Our Sensory Room
Our sensory room is available for individual children to use, and an adult supervises every session. The room is timetabled, but is also offered to any child who will find it beneficial.
Why do we have a Sensory Room at St. Paul’s?
Our sensory room offers a therapeutic space for children with physical and/or sensory needs. It is also used to support children with communication and interaction difficulties, and social, emotional and mental health needs. The calm environment of our sensory room helps children regulate their behaviour and calms their mood.
The room can be used to stimulate or calm the senses (sight, touch and hearing) and provides a space for children with social communication difficulties and sensory difficulties to explore and develop their sensory skills.
Sensory rooms are proven to help de-escalate children when they are becoming distressed and can help them manage their emotions in an effective, gentle way to enable them to engage in learning.
