Travelling to School

With 400 pupils coming together each day from the surrounding area into one place, it is very busy around school at the beginning and end of the day.

We encourage parents/carers who have to drive to school to drop off and collect children, to be considerate to our neighbours and pedestrians, by parking in the laybys outside school and not on the yellow zigzags, the pavement, in the school driveway or across our neighbour’s driveways.   For the safety and wellbeing of all our children, parking in the private staff carpark is prohibited.

Whilst we appreciate that parking can be difficult, parents/carers could consider walking to school on some days, which would really help to cut down on cars and traffic and help our neighbours, as we really do appreciate their patience at the beginning and at the end of the day.

Walking to school can help to increase our sense of wellbeing by making us feel more awake, focused and cheerful.  It is great for children as it helps contribute to their daily amount of exercise, and allows parents to spend more social time with their child.  By building good walking habits in children from a young age, they will choose to walk more when they can.   If we walk regularly, our brains can function more efficiently and concentration will be improved.
